Present:   Carolyn Howard, Sheila Underwood, Linda Kafer Cain, Laura Jackson, Royse and Diane Reagan, Barbara Gillum, Carlie Southard, Angela Sullivan, Dana Major, Connie Dillon, Walker and Linda Ryan, and Loretta Corley

 

President, Barbara Gillum called the meeting to order.  The purpose of the meeting was to discuss final arrangements for reunion weekend activities. 

 

Barbara asked Royse about the activities for Friday night at the Center.  It was decided that the Center would be open at 7 p.m. on Friday night.  There will be light refreshments of cookies and lemonade.    Royse and Diane will pick up the necessary supplies for both the Friday night and the Saturday morning events at the Center.  Loretta will email him the list of items purchased for the 2009 reunion.

 

Barbara asked Linda Kafer Cain about the entertainment for the banquet.  She reported that Caleb Good will play the piano, Janey Cephus Newton will perform 2 songs, and a group of former graduates who used to perform together will perform a couple of numbers.  The entire entertainment should last about 15 minutes.  Linda will contact someone to check out the sound system at the school.

 

Barbara inquired of Carolyn Howard about plans for the Saturday morning 'breakfast'.  Walker and Linda Ryan will be serving a Chuckwagon breakfast that morning, but Carolyn thought there should be additional choices inside the center.  She asked members to donate juice and fruit.

 

Angela Williams and Sheila Underwood will take care of ticket sales and dues collections at the door throughout the weekend.  Loretta will provide them with the necessary records.  Angela and Sheila will also read the Memorial List which contains over 50 names at this time.  Loretta will provide Angela with a printed copy for ease of reading.

 

Barbara asked Connie Dillon about the meal arrangements.  Connie reports that Circle D will cater chicken-fried steak dinners.  Dee will need to have the number of meals we'd like to reserve about 2 weeks ahead of time.  Loretta will come up with some estimate and let Connie know around the 18th of August.  There was discussion about the set-up and decoration of tables at the school.  Linda Kafer Cain will take tickets at the cafeteria door.

 

Loretta Corley will contact Johnny Baker to see if he will do the Invocation.  It was suggested that Don Johnson do the Benediction.  Barbara Gillum and Don Johnson will emcee the event.  Loretta was asked to give a brief explanation of the association's new tax status at the short business meeting prior to the meal.  We will need to have nominations and nominators ready for the 3 elected association positions.

 

Angela Sullivan reported that there will be a dance or Karioke downtown on Saturday night.  She will finalize those arrangements.

   

Next meeting will be on August 30, 2011, at 6:30 pm at the Center.  Meeting adjourned.
